Before we talk about what’s broken, we need to talk about what was never meant to work for us in the first place.
In the first episode of By Design, I’m walking through the founding of this country and asking a question most of us were never taught to ask: who was this system actually built for?
We’re talking about the original Constitution and who could vote under it. The Three-Fifths Compromise. The deliberate dismantling of Reconstruction. The 72-year fight for women’s suffrage. And the Equal Rights Amendment — defeated not by men, but by a woman who was paid to do it.
This isn’t conspiracy theory. It’s documented history. And once you see it clearly, a lot of things that felt confusing start to make a lot of sense.
